The Fallon Bowmen

CLUB HISTORY

Hi and welcome to the History page.

The following is an overview of The Fallon Bowmen's history.

The club was founded in 1983.  The individual who was instrument in the creation of our club is Greg Tanner.  Of our current members, the two guys who were here at the beginning and are still members are:
Denny Rechel and Don Snodgrass
The club was founded as a Nonprofit Organization and originally affiliated with the NFAA.
Our first two bow shoots (1983, 1984) were held at Rattlesnake mountain and included 20 cardboard cutout targets.  The membership began shooting at the old electric warehouse owned by TCID.  The building no longer exist.

1985 was the year of the first annual River Animal Madness shoot.  This was a 20 target shoot, shot twice for a 40 target total.

1986 was the year we bought our first "Critter Factory" target.

1988 saw the R.A.M. shoot grow to include 38 targets.  This was the year that we were able to begin our indoor shooting from January to March at the Dry Gulch, located at the Churchill County Fairgrounds.

1989 the R.A.M. shoot grew into a full fledged 40 target bow shoot.

1992 though the R.A.M. shoot traditionally drew about 300 participants, this year marked the highest attendance of 490.

1994 we drafted the By-Laws that govern our club.

1999 we filed the Articles of Incorporation.  This is when we became an active sponsor in youth organizations such as the Fallon 4-H Junior Bowmen.

This year, May 19, 2002 marks the 17th annual River Animal Madness Bow Shoot.
